FAQs
Commission Work:
I am available for special order original artwork. I will be happy to work with you to create a special piece just for your little ones or your inner child. Commissions require a 50% non-refundable deposit, and I usually need a lead-time of approximately 90 days. If you have a target date, ie. a birthday, due date or other special occasion, I will do my best to accommodate it. Please call or email. Pricing for original paintings is available upon request. Rush jobs are priced accordingly.
Ten Steps for Commissioning Custom Art Work with Cotton Studios:
I want to make this an amazing experience for the both of us. These are the steps we will take together:
- You contact me to start the conversation. This is the hardest yet most important step – don’t miss it.
- We talk about your needs and goals for the project. We talk about the specifics of size, shape, color, etc.
- I provide you with an estimate. Custom work ranges from $425-$2500 depending on the breadth of the project.
- You approve the estimate and remit 25% of the estimate. This may all be done online very easily.
- I send you several sketches for the project along with any other reference points, ie color chips, fabric samples, etc.
- You choose the sketch you like best and we discuss changes, revisions, additions, etc. Remit the second 25% of the estimate.
- The Art Frenzy Begins**. I like to send photos of work in progress to my clients. It’s fun!
- You approve the final piece. Final Payment is due at this time.
- I sign the piece, varnish it, photograph it, and prep it for hanging in your home.
- Delivery Day!! We should throw a party to celebrate.
** Please allow 30-60 days for the Art Frenzy unless otherwise agreed upon in the estimate. Murals are an exception. Also, any job cancelled after The Frenzy has begun may be subject to a 50% Kill Fee.

Print Catalogs:
The entire print catalog is available online at www.rachelmcotton.com/catalog. Prints are more affordable even if they do lack that I-helped-create-something-awesome feeling.
Artwork Sizes:
I make every effort to state the accurate image, canvas, and paper sizes within the catalog. However, I recommend waiting until prints are received and measured before cutting mats and frames.
Remarques:
A remarque is a small original drawing or painting by the artist, usually located in the margin of the print. Remarques are available on all prints for an additional $75. Please order prints with remarques directly from the artist by phone or email. Remarques are special orders and may take several weeks to ship.
Printer:
All prints are produced on Epson 9880 giclee printers using archival inks guaranteed to last up to 75 years. Our printers create museum quality prints at a printing resolution of 1440 x 720 dpi.
On-Demand Printing:
All prints are open edition prints at this time. An interactive shopping cart is available for altering and specializing your print or greeting card. Canvas prints may be stretched on stretcher bars to reproduce the look and feel of an original painting. Fine Art prints can be matted and framed with a large selection of quality frames, mats, and glass. Artwork on a greeting card can be made larger or smaller on the front of the card. The interactive shopping cart will update your purchase price as you special order your artwork.
Standard Shipping:
Prints ship within 7-10 Business Days. Originals may take up to 2-3 weeks to ship after completion.
Returns:
Please inspect shipment upon arrival. Notify the studio immediately of any problems. If a package is obviously damaged when received from the shipper, do not accept the shipment and call the studio immediately. I do offer a 30-Day Money Back Guarantee on prints which also includes the original shipping amount. The returned shipping will not be included in this refund. Custom work is not subject to the same terms as prints as the client is involved and invested in the final outcome of the piece from the beginning of the project.
